Today's project is one of the simple yet loveliest pieces of home decor I've ever made.
At least that's my story and I'm sticking to it!
Seriously though, I adore the coloring on this simple framed backdrop
more than I ever thought I would.
I started with a vintage frame.
I painted it in a chalk paint color called Faded Burlap.
I didn't even use dark wax on the frame
but simply gave the embellishments a light coat of paint
to let the original gold peak through.
Since I don't have anyway of ripping boards,
I went through my stack of pallet wood until I found the right pieces
to fit perfectly into the inset on the back of the frame.
I'm sure it would have been easier to rip a board,
but I guess you do what you gotta do to make a project work!
I was afraid to pound nails into this delicate, old frame
so I used liquid nails to attach the boards to it.
At my show this last weekend,
I had a grapevine wreath hanging in front of this backdrop.
That looked pretty great, too!

It just so happens that the coloring of the boards
that fit into the frame was quite perfect!
A little grey mixed with some warm brown.
The boards are indeed a match made in heaven with the frame color!
