Fabulous Farmhouse Tour: A Turquoise Living Room

Why buy furniture when you can build your own, custom-made to fit your exact needs?
Well that must be my friend Mary's philosophy because the items you see in this room were all made by her as the prefect way to store her items! You've got to check out these pieces...
The beadboard cabinet you see above was made to house her dvd player and such. The whitewashed, distressed and stained finish she gave it just awesome, don't you think? And how about that cute little crate bench she made on the right of the picture! Isn't the fabric just adorable? Love!

She added this great old machinery tag to the cabinet, too.
Mary works in the paint booth at a machinery shop and she's collected some sweet old tags! I sure had my eye on those babies! She said she's going to give me some. Lucky me! :)
Working in the paint booth sure comes in handy for her. If you missed the fabulous clawfoot tub she painted in a vintage minty green, you need to go and check out that post! It's to die for!

Framing her tv are 2 wonderful cabinets Mary made by repurposing some shutters. I guess we missed getting a picture of the outside finish, but they're in a lovely, shabby turquoise shade. The cabinets were custom-made to house her movies!
She also built this great stepback-style cupboard!
Is it just me, or are you all envious of her creativity and building skills, too? :)

As much as I LOVE the pieces I've already shown, this one is my aboslute favorites!
Mary made this to hide her filing cabinet. How awesome are those vintage soda crate drawers and the slide out trays??
The turquoise and white, with the lovely old brown and just a little pop of red from the crates, just makes it that much more awesome in my book!
This cabinet is amazing, too! Again, my favorite color for the back and a great shabby finish. The curvy top is just beautiful!
And take a look at a few of the wonderful items she has on display here...
I just can't pick my favorite thing!
To finish off the room, here is something Mary is pretty proud of.
Her vintage chicken coop coffee table.
She says that a lot of people do this kind of thing these days for tables, but not everyone actually fills the pen with chickens! :)
She's got a cute little collection of chickens roosting in hers!
