A Housewarming Gift and A Custom Sign for Another Friend

Home Sign from a Repurposed Wine Barrel | Denise on a Whim
A few weekends ago, I went to a housewarming party at a wonderful little cottage on the lake.
My friend's son and his girlfriend bought a house and, after remodeling most of it, finally got to move in. Emily, the lady of the house, has great taste!
After having seen the way she decorated the house, I chose to make them this sign from a piece of an old wine barrel that my friend had given me.

Cake Pan Snowman Chalkboard

Repurposed Cake Pan Snowman with a Chalkboard from Denise on a Whim
We're in full-out winter now here in Michigan.
I am not excited.
But it certainly does make it a bit easier to get working on Christmas projects.
Today's project is a new snowman I made from cake pans.

Insulator Snowmen Ornaments

Electric Fence Insulators Repurposed into Snowmen Ornaments from Denise on a Whim
It's certainly not easy for me to get in the Christmas mood
at the beginning of November.
Especially when I'm dreading cold weather and snow.
But, as a crafter and blogger, I had to suck it up and get my Christmas on!
And what better way to do it than with a fun repurpose!

Innovative Broken Chair Upcycles

Upcycled Chair Projects Clipboard on Hometalk from Denise on a Whim
Hometalk recently contacted me to ask if I wanted to curate a board
all about broken chair upycles.
Are you kidding me? Of course!
I love, love, love upcycles and chairs have so many parts to reuse!

Moss and Metal Heart

Mossy Heart Decor via http://deniseonawhim.blogspot.com
Date and time: January 8th; approximately 5:45 pm. I was on my bi-weekly trip to the thrift store when I spotted a heart-shaped baking form in the kitchen section (which just happens to be one of my favorite areas for picking up items to repurpose). I already had Valentine's day on the brain from some other projects I was working on so, of course, I picked up the metal heart!

Upcycled Ornament Display Tree

Upcycling an old cd holder as a tree for displaying ornaments
After crafting some simple snowman ornaments out of 2x4 pieces and can lids, I needed a clever place to display them at our booth. A metal CD rack I picked up at the thrift store was just the ticket!

Bike Wheel Rag Wreath

upcycled, recycled, wheel, rust, wreath
While I didn't have the time to snap any nice, fancy pictures of this project, I'm sharing it with you anyway since I think it's pretty fun! With a little rust and some pretty fabric, my daughter's old bicycle wheel makes a pretty autumn rag wreath!

Girl Put Your Records On {A Cabinet Makeover}

vintage, furniture makeover, chalk paint
This great old record cabinet was a donation from a friend. With its original pulls, it had a bit of an oriental flavor to it. But not anymore!

Roadside Rescue Chalkboard

Sometimes you find the prettiest little things on the side of the road. This project was constructed with the donations from a few different households. People throw out some amazing things!

Apple Pickin'

The kids and I took a trip to Klackle Orchards this weekend. Located in Greenville, MI, they have a wide variety of fun activities for the kids and some pretty cool eye-candy, too!

Coffee Served Daily Sign

I love coffee. This is no secret. But, for some reason, I've never made a coffee sign. I've seen some super cute ones out there lately so I figured it was time for me to join the crowd!

Vintage Suitcase Table

I've always wanted to try my hand at one of the awesome suitcase tables I've seen around. And when I saw an incredibly gorgeous vignette on Pinterest with some brown, white and red suitcases, I fell in love! So I pulled one of my old suitcases out of the garage and got to work!

Bundt Pan Punkin'

I must a have thing for vintage bundt pans because I always seem to have 1 or 2 lying around the house. Good thing I do, too, because I love my new little punkin'!

My Kitchen Crate Shelf

I picked up these chippy green vintage kitchen items a short time ago and I wanted to display them somewhere in my current kitchen. My very tiny current kitchen. I asked Eric to make me a shelf to fit on a different wall. But then I got impatient. And I got an idea!

Rustic Flag {a pallet & wire project}

I had a request from my best friend's mom awhile back to donate something to an upcoming raffle. I figured I would make a pallet sign, which are pretty easy to do but always sell well. The raffle is part of American Heros' Ride, so I decided to make a pallet flag. I've never actually made one before either and I thought it would be fun to try. I really love how it turned out so I'm sharing it with you today.

Cupboard Door Mailholder

I love the look of all the french-inspired projects I see on Pinterest and my blog travels. I have never actually made anything with a french flair. Figured I had better change that!

Love You More Chunky Sign

Chunky frames. I love them. And I don't find nearly enough of them. So, sometimes I just create my own, like this litlte guy!

The Chalkboard with a Magnetic Personality

I found this cheval mirror frame at an auction. There was no mirror in it when I bought it, unless one small shattered piece in the bottom corner counts. The frame itself was in good shape, so I snagged it up for a steal, just knowing it would be a great upcycle project!

Shabby Little Shelves

This little shabby shelf was once just a lowly frame with an ugly picture and a broken mirror. And now it's a fabulous blue shelving unit! The mirror wasn't originally broken, but I broke it when I removed it from the frame. Oops. I guess it's seven year's bad luck for me. Now, isn't that just great! :)
But enough about my misfortunes. On to the project.

Industrial Cabinet Goodness!

Some of my favorite decor pieces are industrial. I just love the look of metal and wood together in perfect harmony. And, if you ask me, we don't do nearly enough of them! But I'm sharing one with you today that I hope you like!
